This holiday season Soul of Sonoma is teaming up with 1010 Wine & Events to host a seven-course Kwanzaa Extravaganza wine tasting dinner. Kwanzaa was officially recognized as a holiday in 1966 to empower and connect Black communities after the wake of the Watts riots, so it’s fitting that we host this elegant inaugural event at the first black-owned and only wine bar in Inglewood, CA. The holiday’s name ties back to the Swahili phrase "matunda ya kwanza," meaning the first harvest. And do we ever have a bountiful harvest of gourmet food and delicious wine in store for Kwanzaa Extravaganza guests.

Each tasting course will correspond with one of the seven principles of Kwanzaa. Wines from black winemakers will be featured accompanied by wine education by an industry expert. Guests will network and enjoy opulent tablescapes while participating in several exciting new and old Kwanzaa traditions throughout the evening. Kwanzaa Extravaganza Wine Dinner seatings will be on December 28th and 29th at 6:00 PM. Elegant and culturally festive attire is requested.

At the heart of this Kwanzaa celebration is delicious food prepared by four Los Angeles area chefs. The dinner will feature a unique take on cuisine that embraces and celebrates the African diaspora. The dinners will give a nod to the final night of Kwanzaa, where family members and friends gather together for Karamu, enjoying dishes from West African and southern culinary traditions.

Ticket includes a seven-course pairing of a chef-led Kwanzaa dinner. Dinner is $185 per person for the seven-course Kawnzaa inspired pairing menu. Wine is curated by Soul of Sonoma to match this special holiday menu.
